Coral Springs was initially known as the City of Coral Springs. The city is located in the Broward County of Florida which is close to 32 km or 20 miles on the northwestern side of Fort Lauderdale. As per the United States census of 2010, the population of Coral Springs was 121,096. It is a principal city in the metropolitan area of Miami that had a total population of 6,012,331.

This city was chartered officially on 10^th July 1973. Coral Ridge Properties that Westinghouse acquired in 1966, master-planned and developed Coral Springs. The name of the city comes from the name of the company. It came up after several proposals were considered earlier and rejected.
